Digit — 0 through 9 Grouped
Digit sort groups combinations by the repeated digit they contain, then ranks within each group. On the Doubles report, the digit is the one that appears twice — for double 557, that is digit 5. On the Triples report, it is the digit that fills all three positions.
Why It Matters
Doubles and triples are not all one story — they are ten smaller stories, one for each digit. Digit sort makes it easy to see all the doubles belonging to digit 3 together, or all the triples belonging to digit 7 together, so you can assess how a specific digit is behaving across its full set of combinations at once.
How Stepzero Uses It
When Digit sort is selected, the list reorders into ten clusters: digit 0, digit 1, through digit 9. Within each cluster, combinations are ranked by their current drought depth by default. Use this view when you have a hypothesis about a particular digit — for example, if digit 4 has been showing strong frequency in the Digit Frequency report, you can jump to Digit sort on the Doubles report to see how 4's doubles are positioned.
Example
On the Florida Pick 3 Doubles report sorted by Digit, you would see the four doubles belonging to digit 2 (020, 022, 220, 202) grouped together — though only distinct combinations appear, depending on the current filter. Comparing the drought depths within that group tells you which of digit 2's doubles is most overdue relative to the others.

FAQ
How many doubles belong to each digit?
For Pick 3, each digit has three doubles: one where the repeated digit is in positions 1 and 2, one in positions 2 and 3, and one in positions 1 and 3 (the split). For example, digit 5 owns 550, 055, and 505. Digit sort groups all three together so you can see their combined status.
Does Digit sort apply to both Doubles and Triples?
Yes. On the Triples report, Digit sort groups the ten triples (000 through 999) by their digit. Since each triple belongs to exactly one digit, each group contains exactly one combination — making the Digit sort on Triples equivalent to numerical order with a clear per-digit label.
